平成23年度10月度入学式式辞（English）
The 2011 autumn entrance ceremony for the graduate school was held.
On 3 October, the 2011 autumn entrance ceremony was held. 6 students from our partner universities were granted admission. The president delivered a welcome speech at the ceremony.
President’s speech is as follows;
Before I begin my welcome speech, I would like to express my deepest sympathy to sufferers and people affected by Great East Japan Earthquake and other disasters around the globe. We, Japanese people deeply appreciate humanitarian assistance from China and other countries all over the world to the region hit by massive tsunami and earthquake last March. We, as a national university continue to provide as much as support as possible from every aspect.
Today we granted admission for the total of 6 students including 4 students of Beijing University of Chemical Technology and 2 students of Tongji University. The three students on master’s course will be enrolled in the double degree programs which we started the agreements in 2007. Up to today, 13 of your senior associates who participated in these programs obtained the degrees.
On behalf of Nagoya Institute of Technology, I welcome all of you to our institute.
Nagoya Institute of Technology was founded in 1905 as National Nagoya Higher Technical School, the first higher engineering education institute in central Japan. To this day more than 70,000 outstanding human resources have graduated from our institute and they built up the foundation of our industrial society and support its development. The quality of human resources brought up with fulfilling practical education leads them to nearly 100% of job placement and high rate of promotion to executives. Currently we cover most of basic and advanced engineering fields with one of the largest scales among the engineering faculties of the Japanese national universities.
You will major in a specific education research field, and we wish you to be leaders with practical abilities to contribute to innovation and creation of industries toward the realization of productive and peaceful society.
Presently human kind is in the midst of change and also timely innovations are required for universities. Though it is not easy to predict how the future science and technology will change, engineering which connects science to technology unites with creation of goods as well as society and it grows in importance. We exert efforts to play a role in innovations of science and technology to solve global issues and to open the way to the future in every field. We wish you to strengthen your ability as a sophisticated professional with a solid engineering ethics.
We aim development of human resources, production of goods and future and stay on path to be an attractive, distinct and independent university. We pursue implementation of education research and its environment creation for all of you to be proud of being and having been students of our institute. There are several proud things of our institute, among them information technology used at our campus is the most advanced throughout the country. Last April, a voice interaction system with 3D character opened for the first time in the world. It is set up in front of the main gate of the campus, please talk to her occasionally.
Lastly, we are confident that you will enjoy a different taste of university life from your homeland and those experiences will be a bridge in the future between two countries.
