On Wednesday, November 19th, Intercultural Exchange Gathering was held in the lounge of Building 2, sponsored by Education Center for International Students. A total of 15 people participated in this event, including four speakers, two student staff members, and nine general participants.
At the event, Japanese students introduced Japanese New Year celebrations, giving presentations on regional variations of zoni (rice cake soup), decorations, and customs. Then, international students from Malaysia and Jamaica explained how they celebrate the New Year in their countries, sharing cultural traditions such as fireworks, parties, and New Year's resolutions. They also highlighted the interesting fact that, since both Malaysia and Jamaica are multiethnic countries, customs can vary from household to household.
During the Q&A session, the participating students asked many questions and there was a lively exchange of opinions. During the social time, participants deepened their relationships with each other in a relaxed atmosphere while enjoying sweets from various countries.
This event was a valuable opportunity to promote intercultural understanding and foster international awareness among students.
