On Wednesday, December 10, a "Furoshiki Workshop" took place at the Education Center for International Students on the 2nd floor of Building 19. The event became a vibrant intercultural exchange, bringing together 20 students from eight countries, including Japan.
During the workshop, participants learned about the origins of furoshiki, its uses in Japanese culture, and the meanings behind its colors and patterns. A pattern-themed quiz encouraged active discussions in pairs and groups, fostering lively interaction. The program also featured a skit by staff demonstrating how to wrap and present a year-end gift using furoshiki, followed by hands-on practice wrapping items such as plastic bottles and books. Participants enjoyed the experience, helping each other along the way.
One participant commented, "It was so much fun! I'd like to use what I learned when sending gifts to family and friends in the future."
Through this cultural experience, the workshop promoted natural cooperation and international exchange among students, making it a truly meaningful event.
