On Friday, July 19, 2024, Professor LEE Dong su and 26 students from the School of Computer Science and Engineering of Yeungnam University in South Korea visited Nagoya Institute of Technology (NITech) and attended a special lecture by Prof. SHIRAMATSU Shun of the Computer Science Group / Computational Intelligence
Yeungnam University was founded in 1947 in Daegu Metropolitan City, located in the southeastern inland part of South Korea. It is a comprehensive university with approximately 28,000 undergraduate and 2,700 graduate students (as of April 2024).
This time, along with the participation in the Japan IT Week exhibition held at Port Messe Nagoya, and there was a desire to experience a lecture from NITech's Department of Computer Science, so this was made possible.
Prof. SHIRAMATSU explained civic tech and consensus building using LLM (Large Language Model), as well as examples of collaboration between generative AI and humans. There was a huge cheer when the AI explained in Korean some technical terms that the students had never heard before.
Students considering working in Japan asked questions about Japan's ICT industry and listened attentively to Prof. SHIRAMATSU's explanation.
It is expected that the relationship between the two universities will deepen even further in the future.
