International Relations

Publishing : October 24, 2024

From October 9th to 11th, 2024, 15 students from the Faculty of Engineering and two staffs from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), our academic partner institution, visited Nagoya Institute of Technology (NITech).

On the first day, the students were divided into two groups and received an explanation from Associate Professor SUMII Yuji about the importance of chemistry and how fluorine is used in daily life, and from Associate Professor YOSHIDA Ryo and his students about the relationship between concrete's microstructure and its durability. The next day, the students attended a mock lecture on "Introduction to Mathematical Sciences A" taught by Professor HIRASAWA Mikami (math), where they learned about the role of geometry in engineering, and experienced beautiful and deep world of Mathematical art. They also participated in Professor MATSUURA Chikako's "English Seminar II" class, where they discussed student life in Malaysia and Japan with NITech students.

During this visit, the students also met up with NITech students who had participated in the summer program at Universiti Putra Malaysia and deepened their friendship. They also visited the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology and the Aichi Museum of Flight, learning about manufacturing in the Chubu region.

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) was founded as an agricultural school in 1931 and is a comprehensive university with approximately 16,000 undergraduate students and 12,200 graduate students (as of December 2022). The university concluded an academic exchange agreement with our university in 2020.

It is expected that exchanges between the two universities will deepen in the future.
