Within the Executive Programme of Cooperation in the Field of Science and Technology between Italy-Japan, which is based on the Agreement between the Government of Japan and the Government of Italy on Cooperation in Science and Technology concluded in October 1988, the projects with education and research institutions in Japan being their counterparts have been successfully selected this time. The project which University of Salerno (UNISA) and Nagoya Institute of Technology (NITech) have jointly applied for was also successfully accepted as one of the projects.

UNISA and NITech first concluded the Agreement for Academic Exchange in departmental level in October 2015 and have achieved great performance in bilateral collaboration since then, which constructively led to the conclusion of the Agreement for Academic Exchange in university level in December 2018.

Prof. Gianvittorio Rizzano who is the representative of UNISA was invited by NITech in July and August in 2018 as a visiting professor and has long been conducting a collaborative research with Assoc. Prof. Atsushi Sato (Architecture, Civil Engineering and Industrial Management Engineering) who is the representative of NITech and this background also led to the successful result this time.

This program with the theme "Advanced Materials for Light and Sustainable Construction in seismic zone" will be implemented for about three years from now, and it is highly expected to contribute to the improvement of safety, health and quality of life of nations in both countries.
