The Japan Society for Safety Engineering Award (Academic and Technical Encouragement Award) is given to individuals who have published objectively evaluable materials, such as excellent academic papers, commentaries, technical documents, case studies, and books, related to the field of safety engineering within the 10-year period preceding the target year, and who are recognized for their contributions to the advancement of safety technology (deriving new technologies) and safety education and skill development.
Associate Professor HAMAGUCHI was awarded in recognition of his important contribution to process safety efforts in the field of cybersecurity, having introduced systematic knowledge about the threat of cyber attacks in the process industries through the publication of his translated book, "Cybersecurity for the Process Industries: A Risk-Based Approach."
