This award is given to outstanding presentations at the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers. Associate Professor MAEGAWA presented a research paper on modeling the boundary lubrication mechanism in plastic processing, focusing on the expansion rate of basic surface area, and was awarded the prize in recognition of its novelty and effectiveness. 

He also gave a presentation at the 23rd Conference of Machine Design & Tribolgy Division, a separate category, on his research on high time resolution measurement of EHL oil film pressure using a surface plasmon resonance microscope, which was recognized for its novelty and effectiveness, leading to him receiving the same award.
