Redox Property of Co(III) in Amorphous Co-doped SiO2/γ-Al2O3 Layered Composites

At International Conference of Sustainable Environmental Technology 2021 (ISET2021) held at UTM in Malaysia, we have received the MDPI Best Presenter Award for our oral presentation entitled "Reversible Redox Property of Co(III) in Amorphous Co-doped SiO2/γ-Al2O3 Layered Composites".

In this study, we firstly demonstrated that Co-doped SiO2/γ-Al2O3 layered composite membrane exhibited chemical valve property triggered by the H2 partial pressure. This reversible change in pore size was found to be governed by the reversible redox of Co cations associated with the OH group formation/deformation triggered by H2 partial pressure at high temperature. This work has been done as a part of research collaboration with Dr. Samuel Bernard (IRCER-Institute of Research for Ceramics, CNRS, Limoges University) under the international research program (IRP) supported by CNRS and NITech.
