In the APL Materials magazine, Ms. YOKOYAMA Yuka (Department of Life and Materials Engineering,), Designated Associate Professor TAKEDA Hayami, Professor NAKAYAMA Masanobu and others have published a research paper titled "Prediction of Li-ion conductivity in Ca and Si co-doped LiZr2(PO4)3 using a denoising autoencoder for experimental data," which has been selected as a featured article and the cover image.
In this study, they developed a deep learning model using powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns to visually and quantitatively evaluate the relationship between XRD-derived information and activation energy for Li-ion conduction in solid electrolytes.
This model allows us to learn the critical areas in the XRD patterns that influence target properties, providing insights into the structural factors that influence performance. It is expected that this result will contribute to accelerating material design and establishing new research strategies.
