Outline
Early Career Award on the Chemical Society of Japan, Tokai Branch is presented to full members of the Chemical Society of Japan under the age of 35 who have achieved highly original and outstanding research achievements in the fields of basic or applied chemistry.
Assistant Professor MATSUBARA Shogo is focusing on peptides called oligoprolines, and is conducting research into constructing molecular assemblies (supramolecules) with various structural forms by self-assembling them. Because typical peptides are flexible substances, it is considered difficult to assemble them into a three-dimensional geometric structure. However, by using oligoproline, He succeed in constructing a three-dimensional peptide supramolecule. This achievement was highly recognized and led to the award.
