The Shibusawa Award is presented to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to ensuring electrical safety over many years, or who have made outstanding achievements in the field of electrical safety in general.
Professor YASUI Shinji received this award in recognition of more than 30 years of distinguished contributions to plasma engineering, and to research and education on the effects of lightning surges on high‑voltage distribution lines and customer facilities, as well as related countermeasures.
He has also taken a leading role in research and deliberations conducted by related organizations, and has made outstanding contributions to lightning‑surge mitigation, lightning‑resistant technologies, and lightning protection in the field of electrical equipment.
