【Initiative Introduction】AI Application Research at AICROSS

The AI Co-creation Science Forum "AICROSS" is an internal academic society established by our university in December 2025. It aims to promote the integration of fields such as "material science," "healthcare," and "industry" using AI technology as a common foundation, and to create new scientific research. Currently, 25 young researchers from within the university are participating, promoting interdisciplinary exchange and collaboration.
As an example of this framework, Assistant Professor MUTO Masakazu of the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Group is working on research into blood flow analysis using AI. In this research, we are developing a combined experimental measurement and machine learning method to predict and visualize the blood pressure state of blood flowing through blood vessels in the brain. By introducing AI, we are now able to perform highly accurate predictions for blood flow analysis, which previously required complex calculations based on mathematical formulas and was considered difficult to predict.
Furthermore, this method can visualize blood flow and pressure conditions based on vascular wall data, and is expected to have applications in the medical field, such as evaluating stent insertion in the treatment of cerebral aneurysms. Furthermore, it has the potential to be applied to other fields, including fluid mechanics, and presents a new research approach based on AI.
Our university will continue to strive to advance AI-based research and create research results that contribute to solving social issues through interdisciplinary initiatives such as AICROSS.
