「Design and Evaluation of Adaptive Handover Algorithm Based on Non-Line-of-Sight Detection for Low-Earth Orbit Satellite-Vehicle Communications」
Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite communications are expected to complement terrestrial networks and provide wide-area connectivity for vehicles. However, in urban environments, buildings and other obstacles can degrade communication quality by blocking satellite links. In this study, we proposed an adaptive handover method that considers the line-of-sight conditions between satellites and vehicles and switches the serving satellite to avoid blocked links. The proposed method was shown to reduce communication interruptions and enable more stable communication under blockage conditions.

Winners' Comment
I am very honored to receive this award. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Prof. Okamoto for his guidance, to our collaborative research partner for valuable feedback, and to the members of our laboratory for their support. I will continue my research toward realizing more stable LEO satellite-vehicle communications under more realistic environments.
