Associate Prof. Shiegeru Okamoto receives International materials Research Prize of the International Materials Research Prize of the 24th World Forum on Advanced Materials (PolyChar 24).
He developed a technique to precisely control structures of block copolymers with optical functions, a kind of softmaterials, as well as simulation methods for block copolymer structures. He fabricated giant grains with highly ordered block copolymers that were successfully applied to non-linear optical materials. These techniques are greatly promising for photonic crystals and metamaterials in the future.
