Mr.Akihisa Sengoku,Department of Computer Science of Graduate School of Engineering receives Best Paper Award at International Conference on Crowd Science and Engineering 2016 held in The University of British Columbia,Canada,July 25-30,2016.

Much attention has recently been focused on the experiments that realize large-scale opinion gathering. In this study, we developed a large-scale consensus support system called COLLAGREE. The system has facilitator support functions, an Incentive Mechanism, and Discussion Tree for large-scale opinion gathering implemented. Participants can efficiently discuss in appropriate discussion processes. As an evaluation experiment, we conducted a large scale experiment in Nagoya City and Aichi Prefecture and showed the feasibility of a consensus building on the Web.

Award winner's comments:

Our vision in Takayuki Ito's research group is to develop a AI-based large-scale consensus building support system, where I will develop automated negotiating agents that can support discussion among users. Also I am now building a visualization mechanism for discussion structure shared by users. Such discussion structure can be used for analysis of discussion and moreover for more sophisticated facilitation-support technologies. Once we can realize it, we can make a completely automated facilitator AI program which can automatically coordinate discussion among people. I believe I cannot obtain this award without encouragements, supports and a lot of discussions with all members in the Takayuki Ito's laboratory and people in the related laboratory. I would sincerely appreciate for everyone.
