Outline
Assistant Professor KISHIMOTO has focused on the metal tube manufacturing processes of die drawing and die-less drawing, and has developed comprehensive metal tube processing technologies. It has been said that reducing wall thickness is difficult when using conventional empty drawing, in which a tube is passed through a die to reduce its diameter, but he has clarified the processing conditions under which wall thickness can be reduced based on plastic mechanics. In addition, he combined die drawing with die-less drawing, which does not use a die, and clarified the processing conditions for producing metal tubes with thin walls and smooth surfaces. Such metal tubes are expected to be used in medical devices such as stents. In addition, after taking up his post at Nagoya Institute of Technology, he used a homemade die drawing device installed on campus to elucidate the mechanism by which the increase in surface roughness during dry drawing is suppressed, based on crystal plasticity, and the results were published in the Journal of Research & Technology which is a Q1 journal.
His achievements to date have been recognized by the Japan Society for Technology of Plasticity, which led to him receiving the JSTP Young Researchers Award, which is given to up-and-coming individuals who have shown great potential for development in the academic or technological fields of plastic processing and are expected to be successful in the future. The award certificate and plaque were presented at the Japan Society for Technology of Plasticity Awards ceremony held on May 14, 2025. He plans to continue using plastic mechanics and crystal plasticity to elucidate macro- and micro-phenomena in the deformation of metallic materials, with the aim of comprehensively developing metal tube processing processes.
